I’ve Been Meaning to Write This

It’s been almost three months since my last blog post.

December. January. February. Somehow all of it gone in a blink of an eye. That all feels like it needs its own kind of update.

The last year has been a blur in the best and hardest ways. A speaking competition that pushed me in ways I didn’t expect and ended with a second-place finish with some of the strongest speakers I’ve ever shared a stage with. Preparation for talks in Los Angeles, New York, and a few points in between. Conversations opening doors to international stages I never imagined a few years ago.

It’s been full. It’s been fast. And it’s been meaningful.

But here’s the honest part…….

In the middle of all that movement, I kept noticing the same familiar pattern showing up in different conversations I was having.

People weren’t asking for more strategies, more motivation, or more productivity hacks.

They were asking the same questions:

  • How did you know it was time to pause?

  • What happens when you slow down and the world keeps moving?

  • What do you listen for when the next step isn’t obvious?

Those questions are the reason When We Pause exists.

My new podcast didn’t come from a marketing plan or a content calendar.

It came from lived experience.

From my own family choosing to step off the conveyor belt. From conversations with people who didn’t set out to re-invent their lives but found themselves at a crossroads anyway. From realizing that some of the most important moments in our lives don’t happen when we’re pushing forward, but when we pause long enough to listen.

In the first few episodes, Kristine Beese names what happens when an Olympic dream in figure skating slips away and you’re left asking who you are without the thing that once defined you.

You’ll also hear from Brian Bachand who describe what it takes to leave the priesthood and begin again. One night, on a walk, he watched a couple say goodnight outside a restaurant and felt something in him say, I want that. That moment didn’t derail his life, but ignoring it would have.

If these stories stay with you, subscribe.

Each week new episodes will be released on Wednesdays and continue exploring moments like these, and subscribing is the easiest way to find them when they’re released.

And if someone comes to mind as you read this, someone who’s been running hard or quietly questioning what’s next, feel free to share this with them.

Sometimes the pause we need starts with hearing someone else’s story.
